The magnesium melting furnace has a plurality of chambers. The material to be melted is fed into a melting chamber through a charging chute that dips under the surface of the melting bath. The melt is slowly transferred into a holding chamber  through a passage situated in the lower third of a dividing wall  above a layer of impurities settling at the bottom  of the melting chamber . The melt flows slowly through the holding chamber , with impurities rising to the surface or settling to the bottom . The purified melt flows through a second passage  situated in the lower third of a second dividing wall  into a metering chamber. The melt can be removed from the metering chamber through a transfer pipe  using a metering pump . The magnesium melting furnace makes it possible simultaneously to melt, purify and remove the magnesium in metered quantities.
